Client Cases and Testimonials
We think that satisfied clients tell our story best. Here are some client's stories and what the clients have to say:
Silicone Breast Implant Litigation:
In 1991, the first Silicone Breast Implant case was filed and a tremendous amount of publicity followed describing the potential health risks. Our firm began taking these cases shortly thereafter. The number of clients concerned about their health and experiencing symptoms was overwhelming. Our firm spoke with over 1,500 potential clients and represented over 600 clients with settlements ranging from $10.000 to $250,000. In March 1994 we were informed by the Court that we had to submit each claim by September 14, 2004 along with all the supporting medical records and a diagnosis from either an internist or rheumatologist. That gave us less than 6 months to gather all the medical records on each client, have them summarized by a nurse paralegal, arrange for medical appointments and diagnosing letters from several qualified doctors from all over the metro area. We were able to accomplish the entire task and submit the claims by the deadline and then collapsed for a couple of days.
“Thanks again…”
“Dear Priscilla…. Just wanted to thank your for the efforts put forth in the case against Dow Chemical. It required a lot of patience on your part as well as ours. My family doctor was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Thanks again.”
“I am most grateful…”
“Many thanks for the Class 5 disease claim check. I could not believe that after so many years there was finally some payment. That, of course, was due to your persistence. I am most grateful…”
Diet Drug Fen Phen Litigation:
In 2001, we began our work with the Fen Phen litigation by representing several hundred clients who had taken the diet drug Fen Phen by determining through their echocardiograms if they had any damage to their heart valves. They were diagnosed by Board Certified Cardiologists. Our firm obtained each client's medical and pharmacy records along with their cardiologist's report and submitted their claims to the AHP Settlement Trust before the May 2003 deadlline. As of January 20, 2008 there are still claims that have not been paid.
"Priscilla was very understanding and explained...."
“…I called Faris & Faris and was referred to Priscilla Faris. I have had very little experience with attorneys or class action suits. Priscilla was very understanding and explained the procedures in language that I could understand. She went over the ‘best’ case scenario and the worst case scenario. I chose to proceed. Priscilla and the staff at Faris & Faris were extremely helpful. They walked me through the many, many forms, helped me with the medical requests and were generally there for me when I had questions. I am grateful that my first experience in the legal arena was a pleasant one. I would not hesitate to refer Faris and Faris to anyone who needs legal advice.”
“Again, I thank each of you…”
“I want to take this time to thank you Priscilla Lord Faris and staff for the many years of service you gave my case. I’m very grateful for all you have done. I know that the payment you received was not enough to cover the many endless hours you gave my case…”
Wrongful Death Truck Crash: December 20, 2003
Description of Case: Plaintiffs are the husband and adult children of seventy-eight year old woman., who tragically died in an automobile accident in December 2003. Plaintiff/husband, was the driver of the vehicle with wife in the passenger’s seat and his sister in the rear right seat. They were traveling west on a highway, which had two exits to a nearby Ethanol plant. It was dark and the conditions were cold and windy. A semi-truck had pulled into the left tune lane waiting to enter the plant.. The back end of the trailer was extremely obscured by dirt and snow and because of the truck driver’s negligence in failing to maintain the vehicle, the semi truck’s turning lights, brake lights, and reflective surfaces were so covered with dirt that they were not visible from a distance. Consequently, husband driver was unable to see the parked semi truck until it was too late. He attempted to apply the brakes, but the vehicle was unable to stop, hitting the parked semi so forcefully that five axel supports were sheared off of the frame of the trailer.
All passengers were extracted from the vehicle and transferred to Sibley Medical Center where the wife died shortly after arrival. Husband driver and his sister were airlifted to North Memorial Hospital. The husband driver's insurance company settled for $100,000 policy limits but the Truck company refused to pay. After hiring an accident reconstruction expert and receiving his opinion that the crash was caused by the dirty truck that was not visible to oncoming traffic, the truck's insurer settled for an additional $65,000. Their first offer was $13,000. Total recover was $165,000. The family did not want the case to go to trial as it would have been too stressful for their father.
