Executive Legal Assistant Sharon Guthrie
For the past 13 plus years, Sharon Guthrie worked for Miles W. Lord & Associates as Executive Legal Assistant and Assistant Office Manager. She worked hand-in-hand with Jim Lord in pursuing the personal injury claims for his many clients, as well as handling the firm's administrative duties. After Jim passed away, Sharon continued her legal profession with Lord & Faris.
After graduating as class valedictorian in 1986, Guthrie accepted a receptionist position with a small family-owned law firm in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Because she exhibited the ability and willingness to take on more and more responsibilities, Guthrie was quickly promoted to Legal Secretary for the lead attorney who practiced in many areas of law with his primary focus on personal injury. Guthrie left that firm after two years to take a position within a larger, more diverse firm, where she worked for two real estate attorneys until her move to Minnesota in 1990.
During her first year-and-a-half in Minnesota, Guthrie worked as personal secretary to the president of a growing telemarketing company in Fergus Falls. Realizing that it was personal injury law that she enjoyed the most, Guthrie took a legal secretary position at the Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben law firm in Minneapolis where she worked from 1992 through the end of 1995. In the spring of 1996, she began her long-term employment with Miles Lord & Associates.
"Over the years, I have worked with many clients who have suffered injuries (physically, emotionally and financially) at the hands of others. I find my job rewarding in that I try to help our clients reclaim a part of their lives that they lost due to the negligence of someone else." Guthrie is thought of by her clients as a very compassionate breath of fresh air in a complicated and stressful legal system.
Although a native of Baltimore, Guthrie truly considers Minnesota her home. "I first came to visit in May 1990 with the birth of my nephew. The beauty of Minnesota's lakes and greenery captivated me. I move here two weeks later." Guthrie is the mother of two very active teenagers, and enjoys attending all of their sporting events, as well as participating in her own such as softball and fishing.
